File a trademark infringement complaint
This service enables trademark owners to submit infringement complaints via DET's dedicated IP Gateway portal, helping them protect their rights.

Required documents
For owners:
- A valid trademark certificate issued by the Ministry of Economy (MOE)
- A written description (and necessary attachments) of the complaint, which contains:
- infringement information
- subject of the complaint
- the number of stores
- pictures from the original and imitation sample
- identification of similarities
Additional for legal representatives or agents:
- Valid legal power of attorney and copy of the trade licence
- A statement of evidence on owner's behalf such as authorisation to file complaints with local departments
Prerequisites
- This service is available to those who already have their trademark registration certificate approved on the IP Gateway portal
- The complaint submitted must be within the IP department’s jurisdiction
- The complainee is licensed in Dubai, with the exception of free zones
- The brand owner can raise complaints about one or multiple retailers in a single case
Service fees
- AED2,000 case study fee
- AED1,000 inspection fees on defendant sites – up to three sites
- AED300 per additional location
- AED2,500 inspection fee per warehouse
Steps
- Login to your account on the IP Gateway and select the button for Brand (trademark) concerns
- Choose 'Open File' and fill in required details; you can add more retailers to the same case
- Make the mandatory case study payment to save and complete your request
- The IP department reviews the case and if approved, the trademark owner has to pay the inspection fees for establishments complained against
- The IP department will then conduct inspections and upload reports per site
