Driving sustainable hospitality standards

Driving sustainable hospitality standards

Continuing with its eco-conscious approach to hospitality, Dubai has introduced the Dubai Sustainable Tourism (DST) Stamp in its ongoing journey with sustainable tourism. Developed in collaboration with the hotel sector, the stamp positions Dubai as a global leader in sustainable tourism. This initiative underscores the city's commitment to achieving sustainability goals while supporting the UAE’s NetZero 2050 initiative, and aligning with the vision of the Dubai Economic Agenda – ‘D33’.

The DST Stamp complements existing global sustainability frameworks rather than replacing them, further aligning Dubai's efforts with international standards. In essence, the DST Stamp is a reflection of Dubai's commitment to creating a sustainable future for its tourism industry.

Rewarding excellence

One of the primary objectives of the DST Stamp is to encourage and recognise hotels that exhibit exceptional commitment to the 19 Sustainability Requirements. By doing so, the programme aims to inspire a culture of sustainability throughout the entire hospitality industry. Moreover, this serves as a vital tool for hotels to communicate their eco-friendly practices to environmentally conscious tourists for whom this is an essential on their holidays.

The stamp operates on a three-tier system – Gold, Silver, and Bronze – signifying varying levels of compliance with the sustainability standards.

The hotels awarded with the Dubai Sustainable Tourism Stamp for 2024 were revealed in February 2025.
